I just had the most wonderful day filled with reading a book I couldn't put down. My plans were to glance at a few pages and then come back later to read the book. Once I started reading, there was no way I could put it down. The beautiful slow development of a love between Ellie and Ryan is powerful. Can you remember when you were young, who your first love was? Ellie always knew her heart belonged to Ryan.As their wedding day approaches, Ellie is anxious for Ryan to come home from his deployment from overseas. She spends her days with wedding details and their foundation called "Perchance Dreams." I loved how the organization helps privide gifts for children at Christmas and there is always a special note waiting for them in the gift. The characters are giving and have such a heart for others , which shows in their everyday life.
One of my favorite parts of the whole book was her relationship with her dad. He treasured his daughter and made her feel special. Isn't that what God does for us? Ellie's dad was her first love and with that bond grew a determination to find the right man to marry. That special someone had to be like her dad.
There is another special person in Ellie's life that I came to really love to read about. Her neighbor Cora, now in a nursing home brought her many happy childhood memories. Ellie visits her frequently and sits and talks to her about things that happened as Ellie was growing up. The author wrote their relationship with such warmth and love. It reminded me of a grandmother and granddaughter sharing sweet memories of happy times that were cherished.
The book does go back and forth from earlier days to present day , as it builds a story filled with cherished memories, unconditional love and scriptures that bring encouragement. I love the way the author writes with grace as her words fill you with joy. I saw this while reading and thought it was fitting to sum up with. "Everyone deserves to be loved. Everyone deserves to be valued. "

Perchance to Dream A Holiday Christian Romance edition by JoAnn Durgin Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
If you follow my blog at all, you know that I love to read. I also love the holiday season. So what better way to kick off the season than by reading a holiday Christian romance story!
JoAnn Durgin’s Perchance to Dream is a wonderful book to start the holiday season! The main characters, Ellie Franklin and Ryan Sullivan, have grown up together, first as friends and then they fell in love. Their lives are not without challenges as you will see when you read the book.
Throughout the book, Ms. Durgin has seamlessly taken us from present day to Ellie and Ryan’s childhood and teenage years by writing their past as a story Ellie tells to one of the residents of the local nursing home. JoAnn has not only written a beautiful love story, but also a story of strong faith in God, of daily seeking his wisdom and guidance in all situations, and leaning on Him in the good times and bad. Through Ellie and Ryan’s story, you will also find encouragement for your daily walk with God.
This is not just a book that leaves you with that “feel good” feeling at the end, it is a book that has the potential to change your life as you take the truths of God presented in this book and apply them to your life. That is why I encourage you to purchase and read Perchance to Dream. Purchase it, because you will want to read it again and again!
Perchance to Dream
By JoAnn Durgin
I can't think of a time I've read a story and was speechless until I read Perchance to Dream. A story from the eyes of the main character, her story, one that embraced not only my heart, but my perspective on my feelings...for others, for my life, for God's word and His plans for me and my faith. I sit here watching the sunrise filter through the darkness in awe of God's presence in our lives, speechless, because it's real and bright and just for us! Oh how amazing!
Soaking in the emotion of this read, set in Cade's Corner, Ohio, the story of Ellie, (who is pursuing a career in marketing and public relations), and Ryan, (E-3 Private First Class, U.S. Army), I am forever touched. Each day now I try to embrace each moment looking through the story I'm telling, the story of my life. At times taking a moment for granted, now I don't want to leave one to chance. You never know in a single moment when that unexpected accident, that unexpected tragedy could take place. The one that will leave your world turned upside down. But the cool thing is, the awesome thing is....is that God is with you and His presence will help you get through any unexpected incident that may come. He makes us strong and helps us conquer the world and He heals our hearts. We just have to give Him our story. Share it with those you love, share it with those hurting, with those you trust. And never give up, never give up hope, on your faith. That's what Ellie taught me. Never leave a moment to chance, take the leap, keep trusting Him to make your story with a happy ending. Read with me the story of Ellie and Ryan, their story through Ellie's eyes, full of emotion, full of faith. Grab your tissues and join me as we see if God brings Ellie and Ryan a happy ending. Be blessed my friends!
